About the Research Group
We combine phenomenological theory with methods from the cognitive and social sciences to carry out philosophical and theory-driven qualitative research into human experience.
Our research program has three core strands:
We develop methodological tools — refining existing ones, designing new ones, and testing their limits
We disseminate those methods through training and collaboration, so that other researchers can put them to use
We apply them in collaboration with colleagues from other groups and fields to answer questions about the complexities of human experience
Right now, we’re carrying out research on topics ranging from depression, pain, and ecological anxiety to freediving and psychotherapy. To find out more, check out our Resources page, where we share work on how to apply phenomenology across disciplinary boundaries.
